The last four years of my life have been dedicated to PhD and it also reduced the things I can do for fun. I always wanted to start a Tamil podcast that analyses different topics profoundly and in turn, spreads knowledge.

When I was researching for a title (and it was going to be a Tamil pop culture reference), after dabbling for days, I decided on Take That 25, a comedy punchline of Goundamani from Thedi Vandha Raasa. The idea is to tie in with 25 as a theme. So, every episode will be 25 minutes (except for the first one) and hoping to release an episode fortnightly. The topics will not be restricted to movies and music but they will be spread across politics, economics, sociology, culture and everything under the sun.

The first episode is about music. Tamil Film Music is changing. The way we listen, engage and share music is also changing. This episode traces the history of Tamil film music and how the latest Western music is influencing the current music directors. Specifically, the episode critically argues how hook and the influence of TikTok and Instagram are also changing the Tamil music world.

Listen to the episode here.

Please follow me on Spotify (if you use it), the second episode will be on other platforms including Apple and Google. The first episode is available only on Spotify because of the music copyrights (yes, there are some songs in the movie).
