Projekt Ilaiyaraaja Season III — 363/365 — Adi Netriravu
I started season III with a song from Innisai Mazhai — Oru Raaga Devadhai. As I have two special posts for the next two days, I thought I will end with one other song from the same movie.
I am quite obsessed with this album. The album is grossly underrated and has scintiilating numbers. I have posted 4 songs already from the album over the seasons (still have two more to go).
The song that I have chosen today is again a percussionist dream with different percussion instruments vying for your attention through out the song. There are layers of rhythms especially in the prelude and interludes. And, also Raaja bamboozles you with the flute and shehnai in the interludes along with the strings.
I saw a video of Ilaiyaraaja playing these songs in oen of the concerts in Toronto and I was so happy because it would be a bliss listening to these songs live. We need to explore this man’s music more than what meets the eye.
